But isn’t that essentially the same thing? Yeah I was curious too. i figured maybe chumming was putting a bunch of blood and fish in the water to bring them in, where as this was bringing them a few treats (fish heads) that they could eat.

Yep, definitely on purpose. We took it back up with us when we left Asshole Shark Doo Doo Doo shirt. When we first get to the site, the divemaster would open a small hole in the bucket to get the scent out there and bring the sharks in so we could swim around with them. And they’d follow that bucket around like a bunch of puppies. It was kind of funny. Then, he directed all of us to position ourselves next to the coral, out of the way. Then he sat the bucket down and opened the lid to let all the sharks eat the insides of it.
